Meet Our Directors Adelson & Company PC, Accounting

Gary J. Moynihan, CPA

Managing Director and

Director of Tax and Business Advisory Services


Mr. Moynihan is the managing partner for A&Co's tax, MAS, M&A, litigation support, business valuation services and tax credit financing projects. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has been in public practice since 1986, has been a licensed CPA since 1989, and has been a principle in public practice since 1992.

Mr. Moynihan graduated from Norwich University with a Bachelor of Art Degree in Business Administration and a concentration in Accounting in 1985. He has had advanced training in auditing, tax, and general management through courses offered by various institutions, as well as through the Continuing Professional Education Divisions of the Massachusetts and New York States Societies of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Moynihan has extensive experience in the small to medium sized corporate, partnership and Limited Liability tax markets as well as individual taxes. He has also worked extensively as project accountant on specific downtown Pittsfield development projects utilizing tax incentive financing.

Mr. Moynihan works with business owners as their primary financial advisor to optimize their operational and financial performance through management and tax advisory services. He is considered an expert in matters involving shareholder, partner and member compensation contracts, buy-sell arrangements, entity selection, real estate ownership and related entity classifications.

Carol J. Leibinger-Healey, CPA

Director of Tax & Audit Services


Ms. Leibinger-Healey, a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Massachusetts since 1998, was the firm's audit manager for several years and was promoted to a Director effective July 1, 2008. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Accounting and Finance from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (formerly North Adams State College) in 1993, and has been with the firm since 1997.

Ms. Leibinger-Healey is a native and lifelong resident of Massachusetts. She served on the Western Massachusetts Committee of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants for three years and is a past treasurer and board member of the Gladys Allen Brigham Community Center (formerly Girls Incorporated of the Berkshires), Berkshire United Way, and the Pittsfield Rotary Club. She also sits on the finance committee of Community Health Programs and is a 2005 graduate and past Steering Committee member of the Berkshire Leadership Program.

Ms. Leibinger-Healey’s audit experience encompasses a wide variety of organizations including private corporations, pension plans, and nonprofit organizations, including those funded by federal and state grants. She has an understanding of the firm’s comprehensive audit and accounting manuals and of the publications of the Office of Management and Budget pertinent to a single audit including the Uniform Guidance, and the Compliance Supplement for Single Audits. She has experience preparing and reviewing the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report (UFR) for several state funded nonprofit agencies. Ms. Leibinger-Healey’s tax experience includes research and planning related to and the preparation of personal, corporate, partnership, estate and trust, payroll, sales and use, and state income tax returns.

David M. Irwin, Jr. CPA 

Audit Director


David Irwin is a shareholder and director with Adelson & Company PC.  He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Bachelor of Business Administration and joined the firm in 2001.  Mr. Irwin is licensed as a certified public accountant in the State of Massachusetts.

As the Treasurer of Downtown Pittsfield, Inc., David is afforded the opportunity to work with property owners, businesses, residents, and nonprofit organizations focused on the growth and vitality of downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts.  His community involvement also includes a board leadership position in a local social service organization dedicated to supporting low-income families.  He has also completed the Berkshire Leadership Program.  He has advanced training in auditing, compilation and reviews offered by the Continuing Professional Education Divisions of the Massachusetts Certified Public Accountants and American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Mr. Irwin’s audit experience encompasses a wide variety of organizations including governmental entities, nonprofit organizations in the performing arts and social service industries, schools, and commercial entities.  He has many years of experience preparing the Massachusetts Uniform Financial Report (UFR) for state funded social service nonprofits.  He also has extensive experience in performing compliance audits under the Office of Management and Budget’s Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles, and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards (commonly called “Uniform Guidance”).

Mr. Irwin oversees the firm’s peer review and quality control program, a program dedicated to enhancing the quality of the accounting, auditing and attestation services which our firm provides.

Allison L. Bedard, CPA

Audit Director


Ms. Bedard, a certified public accountant, has been with the firm since 2010 and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.  After working as the firm’s audit manager for several years, she was promoted to Director on January 1, 2019.

She specializes in audits and reviews of not-for-profit organizations, commercial entities, and pension plans and provides compliance tax services to many of the firm’s high wealth clients.

She is a graduate of The College of Saint Rose, where she earned a Master of Science degree in Accounting, and a member of the Berkshire Leadership Program Class of 2013. 

Ms. Bedard currently volunteers her time on the Supervisory Committee of the Board of Directors for Greylock Federal Credit Union and is a past Board Member and Treasurer of Adlib, Inc.
